Talk Description

Leprosy: A Disease of Poverty Today

Did you know that a person is diagnosed with leprosy every two minutes? Kit addresses the rarely considered issue that leprosy is not a disease of the past. It affects the poorest people in our world today. Leprosy is curable, but if it isn’t treated quickly the result can be permanent disabilities. People are often too scared to come forward for treatment because of the stigma surrounding leprosy.

In a practical demonstration, Kit brings alive how challenging it can be for a person affected by leprosy to perform everyday tasks. He invites you to become part of the solution to eradicate this cruel disease from the world by helping to bring the cure and healing to people with leprosy.

Other Talks

Kit can also talk about the rarely explored topic of the Decima Flottiglia Motoscafi Armati Siluranti, or Decima Flotiglia MAS, the most successful Italian naval unit in the Mediterranean campaign in World War II, and his grandfather's involvement in defeating this courageous commando unit.

All donations given will go to The Leprosy Mission Great Britain.
